Prove your identity by 1 June 2022 at the latest

10/01/2022

Did you apply in Enter Finland? The Finnish Immigration Service has decided to extend the time limit for proving your identity at a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service or at a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate).

Usually you must prove your identity within three months of submitting your application in the online service Enter Finland. Now the time limit for proving your identity has been extended until 1 June 2022.

Extra time is given temporarily to ease the situation of those applicants who have submitted their application in the online service Enter Finland but who currently cannot prove their identity in time because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Finnish Immigration Service cannot process your application before you have proven your identity. In order to prove your identity, you must visit a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate) or a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service where your identity is confirmed. During the same visit, you must possibly show the originals of the documents you have attached to your application and give your fingerprints.

The extended time limit also concerns those requests for additional information which require a visit to a Finnish mission. If the Finnish Immigration Service has sent you a request for additional information in which you are asked to contact a Finnish mission due to an interview or a DNA analysis, for example, please contact the mission by 1 June 2022 at the latest.
